Looks like some people have taken the idea further. I particularly like “misanthrope chess” and “single player chess”.

By the way, if anyone can speak russian and could kindly ask them to link to this page rather than direct to the image on that site that’d be awesome.

EXTRA: Seeming as people seemed to like this, I had a go at more of the same

I guess in Democrat chess, the king and queen would be HUGE, the bishops would be unable to move, and the pawns would get more ways to move? *shrug*

    Loved it!

Anarchy Chess, pieces all over the board, outside the squares. Existentialism Chess just one pawn. Theocracy Chess Bishops and pawns. Martial Law Chess rooks and a king. Jonestown Chess all the pieces toppled (or removed).

    Thanks that was fun exercise.

They’re talking about Republic as in the government type, not the conservative party. You know as opposed to a Monarchy? Jesus, I just killed the joke, buried it and stomped on it’s grave :(

    Utopian chess: everyone is King.
Absolute Dictatorship chess: King and pawns only.

Descartes-chess: The pieces are there, but the board isn’t
Cold War chess: The whites have only bishops on the white squares, the blacks only on the black squares. Noone can actually touch eachother.
Feudal Chess: A king, and the rest is knights.

By the way: There can’t be any winners in Republican and Marxist Chess, while in desegregated chess, the whites starts out winning.

I really have to stop looking for metaphors. They don’t make any sense…

Drake – no, republican chess is referring to a republic government (ie, there are no monarchs), not the political party.
