Your probability of dying *this* year is around 1 in 250. So for this year, the policy and premium make sense. As you get older and your probability of death goes higher, your premium will go to a higher rate.

There are various complications, including group policies, the fact that the insurance company can invest the premium, and as Philip alluded to, policy limitations. However, these don’t change the basic way insurance works.

The joke is good, the punchline might be better if the ‘live each day as if it were your last’ was all on the top and the punchline then would be the picture…. At least you wouldn’t have the long period of wondering what the joke of the picture was before scrolling down.
